Fahan Heritage

COMMITTEE

Origin and Beginnings

In 2007, the late Peter Gurrie founded Fahan Community Council, (FCC) a group which would protect and promote the Village Heritage. One of its chief responsibilities was to maintain and protect Saint Mura’s Church and Graveyard.

By 2018, it became obvious that action was required to address the severe deterioration of the carved artwork integrity of the 7 th century Saint Mura’s Cross-Slab.

Fahan Heritage Group developed as a subcommittee of FCC. As heritage works at the church and graveyard developed, the members changed the informal Fahan Community Council to Fahan Community Development Partnership CLG, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee.
